Driver Licensing
To qualify for an SPSV driver licence a person must hold a current driving licence and must pass the SPSV Entry Test. They must then apply to An Garda Síochána with their SPSV Skills Development Certificate, a receipt for payment of their licence fee, an up-to-date tax clearance certificate, their driving licence, a complete Form PSV 15 and two photographs. They must satisfy An Garda Síochána that they are fit and proper person to hold such a licence before being granted an SPSV driver licence.
Training
On-going personal and professional training and development is a key feature and necessary requirement of any successful business. This is particularly true for SPSV drivers who operate in a constantly changing and challenging environment. The Commission for Taxi Regulation has developed a mandatory Skills Development Programme with practical application for all existing and new taxi, hackney and limousine drivers. New applicants for an SPSV driver licence must take the SPSV Entry Test and those who already hold an SPSV driver licence are requried to take the Industry Knowledge Test. See the Skills Test Section of the website for more information.
