The Commission for Taxi Regulation’s public consultation on the national maximum taxi fare has now closed.  The public consultation process was conducted as a key input into the review of the national maximum taxi fare which was last set in November 2008. The Commission reviews taxi fares every two years to ensure that the national maximum fare strikes a balance between a fair return to operators while encouraging usage.

The Commission for Taxi Regulation published its Action Plan 2010-2011 today.  This Action Plan outlines the Commission's work programme in detail and will assist the Commission in meeting the objectives of its Strategy Statement 2010-2014.

The Commission for Taxi Regulation today announced its first public information campaign of 2010, focussing on the importance to consumers of getting a receipt for their journey. The provision of receipts has been a legal requirement since September 2006 for small public service vehicle journeys.
